CM lays foundation stone for 'Haora’ river front development project
The state government has taken several initiatives for beautification and cleanliness of the ‘lifeline of Agartala’ river Haora, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
Laying the foundation stone of 'Haora River Front Development Project' of Agartala Smart City Limited on Thursday at Dashamighat area of Agartala, Dr Saha said that different steps have been taken for beautification and to make River Haora pollution free during the period of the present government.
He said, this scheme is the joint initiative of City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain (CITIIS) scheme. The scheme will be implemented jointly by the French Development Agency, European Union, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Union government and the National Institute of Urban Affairs.
The Chief Minister said, Agartala city is being beautified in different ways. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for including Agartala as a smart city among 100 cities of the country. He said Agartala will become the most beautiful city in the country once the 'Haora River Front Development Project' is completed. The government is working with priority to comfort and welfare of the public and the present government is doing every bit of its work so that every citizen feels that this government is their government, said Dr Saha and added that the facilities of central and state government schemes are being delivered to every citizen in the state through ‘Prati Ghare Sushason’ campaign (good governance at every household) to ensure benefits of various state and central schemes for the people of the state.
Different fair and awareness camps are being conducted in different areas of the state to deliver basic services to the people from Gram Panchayat to state level, said Chief Minister and added that the state government has taken various initiatives for socio-economic development of women of the state. The government is working relentlessly with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to empower women. Women run Self Help Groups (SHGs) have increased. He mentioned that people of the state are now becoming self dependent.
Speaking in the programme Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumdar urged everyone for their cooperation to keep Agartala city clean.MLA Surajit Dutta and councilors of AMC were present in the programme. Secretary of Urban Development department Abhishek Singh also spoke on the occasion.
CEO of Agartala Smart City Limited Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav in his welcome address said, work will be done in about 2 km long area at Dashamighat located near the River Haora as the layer point under this scheme. Director of Urban Development department Tamal Majumdar, Additional Commissioner of AMC Mohammed Sajad P. and project implementing organisation Macintosh Barn Ltd. Chief General Manager S. Ghoshal were also present in the programme.
